  _… says Obaseki can’t change fuel price, fix federal roads_ The Special Adviser to the Edo State Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, has urged residents to hold the Federal Government responsible for the deplorable state of federal roads in the State and the continued suffering and hardship faced by the people as a result of the hike in fuel price, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government. Osagie said this when he addressed a group of protesters made up of civil society organizations and activists who were at the Government House, Benin City, to lament the high cost of petroleum products which has affected the cost of living, inflicting hardship and suffering on the people. Obaseki, security agencies reassure of steps to check cult killings, use of illicit drugs

   _...police arrest 46 more suspects for cult-related killings, others_  The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has assured that the State Government will collaborate with the security agencies to tackle cult-related killings, consumption of illicit drugs and other criminal activities in the State. The governor gave the assurance during a press briefing after the monthly Security Council meeting, held at the Government House, in Benin City. He said “We have just concluded our monthly Security Council Meeting where we analyzed the security situation in Edo State. I am happy to inform you that the number of security incidents have continued to drop as we compare and review the incident analysis between April and June this year. “In the analysis, we found out that we have the lowest incidents in June of about 54 cases compared to about 90 in the previous months and 100 in April.  _…to arrest, prosecute sponsors of cult-related activities_  The Edo State Government has said it is stepping up efforts to end all forms of unlawful societies, cultism, and cult-related activities as the State Police Command arrests 124 suspected cultists across the State. The Edo Police Commissioner, Muhammad Dankwara, while addressing journalists in Benin City, on Thursday, said of the 124 suspects arrested, 97 have been charged to Court, 13 have been cleared and released while 14 others are still under investigation for murder and cult activities in the State. The Police Commissioner said the Command is working with the government to check the spate of cult killings and other criminal activities in the State.
